NGO Shamir has been operating in Latvia since 2004. Our goal is to preserve Jewish culture, history, and memory about the tragic events of the Holocaust.
Association Shamir is actively engaged in publishing books and educational literature on the history of the Latvian Jewish community, publishing maps, videos and other informational materials. In total, about 50 books in 7 languages were published.
The leading project of Association Shamir is the creation and maintenance of the Riga Ghetto and Latvian Holocaust Museum. The activities of the Association Shamir include publishing books, creating exhibitions, organizing concerts and commemorative events, educational projects, conferences and filming documentaries.

Educational Projects
Shamir’s educational programs cover a wide range of formats and topics. They include seminars for teachers, archive workshops for students, school lectures, and student conferences. We aim to foster meaningful and engaging dialogue about the past and its relevance today.
Concerts
Since its founding, the organization "Shamir" has regularly organized concerts that bring together music, memory, and culture. These events are dedicated to Jewish heritage, commemorative dates, and meaningful historical and contemporary themes.
